Whoever lives in Dorćol doesn’t have to leave this neighborhood. Everything is here – parks, the Kalemegdan fortress, the river Danube, theatres and cultural sites, great cafés and restaurants.
The famous Čukur-fountain, where the conflict between Serbs and Turks began, is located in Dorćol. Gavrilo Princip went to the First Belgrade Grammar School. Near the school there was the Vidin Gate, one of the four gates that once stood at the entrance to Belgrade. The Bajloni green market is tucked between Skadarska Street, George Washington Street and Drinčić Street and the Belgraders and their guests have been shopping there for almost a century. Let’s not forget that Skadarlija, the bohemian district, is the integral part of Droćol as well.
